LITTLE BACKPOCKET GUIDE TO

Safer Sex Work

This guide is for anyone, of any gender or sexuality, who does or is thinking about doing sex work. It’s designed to support your wellbeing in the most holistic sense possible.

In the guide, you’ll find tips for staying safer while you work and looking after your mental, physical, and emotional health. Sex work is work, and like any job there can be ups and downs. This guide is here to give you the tools to navigate them.

Sex work is a broad term, and it can mean different things for different people. When we say sex work, we mean any consensual exchange of sexual services for money, goods, or other benefits. That includes all types of work from full service to sugaring and stripping. As well as advice for specific kinds of sex work, this guide contains basic safety and wellness advice that could be useful for anyone – regardless of the kind of sex working they are doing or thinking about doing.

✺ This guide was produced in close collaboration with sex workers, who have informed it at every stage of its development. We’d like to thank the sex workers – of different genders, backgrounds, and professions – who worked with us to shape this guide with their insights, experiences, and knowledge.
